A Standard Visitor visa covers holidays and short trips to the UK. You apply online, book a biometrics appointment at a visa application centre, and send your documents.

  1. Check you need the visa and pick your dates

    Use the GOV.UK visa checker for your passport. Apply no earlier than 3 months before you travel.

  2. Fill in the online form and pay £135

    You will be asked for travel dates, accommodation, the estimated cost of your trip, your income and, depending on your case, a 10-year travel history.

  3. Book your biometrics appointment

    You choose it inside the online application. Take your passport and give your fingerprints and a photo.

  4. Send documents and wait for a decision

    Documents not in English or Welsh need a certified translation. Most decisions arrive within 3 weeks.
