How the process works
Studying in Canada means a study permit, a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI), and proof that you can pay your tuition and living costs. Here is the process from Nepal, step by step.
Get your letter of acceptance
Apply to a designated learning institution (DLI). Once you accept the offer, it sends a letter of acceptance you will upload with your application.
Get your attestation letter (PAL/TAL)
Your school or province arranges it. Master's and doctoral students at public institutions are exempt from 1 January 2026, but must show proof of the exemption.
Prepare your money
Show your first year's tuition plus CAD 23,448 for a year of living costs, and your travel costs.
Apply online and give biometrics
Pay the CAD 150 permit fee and CAD 85 biometrics fee, then book your biometrics appointment at the visa application centre.
