The UK has announced higher living-cost funds for the Student visa. They apply to applications made on or after 30 November 2026.
What changes
- London: £1,570 a month, for up to 9 months.
- Outside London: £1,203 a month, for up to 9 months.
What it means for you
The date you apply decides which amount applies, not the date your course starts. If you can apply before 30 November 2026, the current amounts still apply. If you will apply after it, plan for the new amounts.
Remember the money must be held for 28 days in a row, so build that time into your plan. Your first year's course fees come on top of living costs.
