Study in Germany
Germany scholarships for Nepali students
Last verified
Public universities in Germany charge little or no tuition for most programmes, so scholarships mostly help with living costs. Check each scholarship's own rules, because deadlines and eligibility differ.
Where to search
- DAAD scholarship database: the German Academic Exchange Service lists scholarship types and matching offers for international students. This is the first place to look.
- Foundations and organisations: the DAAD says international students can also apply to party-related foundations and business-affiliated institutions. Each has its own rules.
- Your university: ask the International Office what awards or support it offers for international students.
What a scholarship changes for your visa
- Visa fee: students with a publicly funded scholarship, such as a DAAD scholarship, are exempt from the €75 visa fee at the German Embassy in Kathmandu.
- Proof of money: a scholarship can count as one way to show your living costs. See our cost guide for the options the embassy accepts.
- Health insurance: it is still required, and the embassy asks for it after your visa is approved.
