UK intakes and application deadlines for 2027

UK courses start at set times of the year, and your visa can only be applied for after you hold a CAS. Working backwards from your start date is the easiest way to avoid a missed deadline.

The main intakes

  • September: the main intake, with the widest choice of courses.
  • January: offered by many universities, with fewer courses than September.
  • May: offered by some universities for selected courses.

UCAS dates for 2027 entry (undergraduate)

If you are applying for a bachelor's degree, you apply through UCAS. These are the key dates for 2027 entry:

  • 12 May 2026: applications open.
  • 15 October 2026 (18:00 UK time): equal consideration date for Oxford, Cambridge and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses.
  • 13 January 2027 (18:00 UK time): equal consideration date for most undergraduate courses.
  • 30 June 2027 (18:00 UK time): applications received by this date are sent to universities. After it, they go into Clearing.
  • 23 September 2027 (18:00 UK time): final date for 2027 entry applications.

For postgraduate courses the UCAS dates do not apply: check the deadlines on each university's own course page.

Working back from your start date

  1. Apply and get your offer

    Apply early. Offers often have conditions, such as exam results or an English test.

  2. Accept and pay your deposit

    Your university issues your CAS after you meet the conditions and pay any deposit it asks for.

  3. Prepare your money

    Your funds must be held for 28 days in a row, ending no more than 31 days before you apply.

  4. Apply for your visa

    You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts. A decision usually takes about 3 weeks from Nepal, so allow extra time for your TB test and biometrics.
